Learn Locals offer programs that are designed to help you gain the confidence and skills needed to look for a job or go on to further study. Learn Locals are friendly and welcoming, with qualified teachers who are focussed on helping you to succeed.

The programs are designed to help you gain the confidence and skills needed to look for a job or go on to further study. They include courses in communication, job search skills, getting ready to go back to work and literacy and numeracy.

We focus on developing those very important employability skills and pre-employment courses such as Kick-start your Career in Disability Support or Health, include observational work experiences as well.

Learn Local organisations work with learners and businesses to tailor their programs to individual needs and goals.

Programs and courses are delivered in a variety of ways including in informal learning environments at the organisation, which includes blended learning, ie a blend of online and classroom tuition.

How and when can you enrol?

Enrolment requirements vary across Learn Local organisations. You might need to enrol in person, or be able to enrol over the phone, online or by mail. For pre-accredited training programs, as these are often shorter courses, you can enrol in courses anytime from February to November.

Virtual Reality
“It was a worthwhile program; we got more out of it than we can imagine, and it’s a course that needs to continue. There’s a lot of people out there who need the opportunity like we’ve had and should be able to get the opportunity.”

Your #Gippslanddigital mentors:

The #Gippslanddigital project was funded over a period of 18 months, through and ACFE Board Capacity and Innovation Grant. During this time the project conducted a bootcamp, a roadshow and a range of online and face-to-face professional development activities for teachers, as well as engagement activities for the Gippsland community.

During 2019 we are able to offer the mentoring expertise of 2 of the project’s most talented and committed teachers: Pauline Garood and Thomas Crosbie.

Pauline and Thomas are here to support Gippsland Learn Local teachers before and during the teaching of any of the following modules below. These modules and teaching materials have been developed in partnership with Think.Digital.

  • Digital Basics

  • Digital Marketing

  • Website essentials

  • Social media

  • Selling online

  • Introduction to Virtual Reality

We have teacher and learner workbooks, as well as course plans and session plans available. There are also some instructional videos.

If you would like to get in touch with our mentors, please contact Josie on info@gippslandlearnlocal.community, and we will put you in touch with a mentor.
